Microsoft updates Surface line of products and introduces Surface Headphones

Microsoft has taken the wraps off a bunch of new hardware at a special event. We see updates across the Microsoft Surface line with a brand-new hardware offering with the Surface Headphones. Here’s everything that was unveiled: Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, Studio 2 and the all-new Surface Headphones.

Surface Pro 6

The Surface Pro 6 updates the most popular Surface product with Intel’s latest eighth-generation processors that boasts improved internal cooling. The Surface Pro 6 will be available with quad-core processors and Microsoft claims it will be 67 per cent faster than its predecessor.

You can expect 13.5 hours of battery life and the device weighs 0.77kg. The screen continues to use a 12.3-inch display and memory options of up to 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD will be available. Microsoft has made no updates to the external design from the previous Surface Pro line-up.

Surface Laptop 2

The Surface Laptop 2 is going to be a whopping 85 per cent faster than the debut Surface Laptop thanks to Intel’s eighth-gen CPUs. It will also sport the thinnest-ever LCD placed on a laptop. The hardware is no different from the original Surface Laptop so it’s primarily a spec update. The screen is the same 13.5 inches, but it now comes with a 1500:1 contrast ratio. Microsoft is claiming a 14.5-hour battery life for it.

Surface Studio 2

Once again, Microsoft has avoided design changes to focus on spec updates. The Surface Studio 2 is the fastest Surface ever made, it packs a 38 per cent brighter screen (over 500 nits brighter than before) and 22 per cent more contrast. The display supports the DCI-P3 colour space.

The Studio 2 comes with Nvidia’s next-gen Pascal graphics and a 2TB SSD, over the original’s hybrid disk drive.

Surface Headphones

The Surface Headphones are Microsoft’s latest addition to the Surface line. They sport a sleek design and colour that fits right into the Surface family. They are over-ear Bluetooth headphones with adjustable noise cancellation (13 levels) and Cortana built-in, obviously. They’ve got 40mm drivers, four beam-forming mics and four active noise-cancelling mics.
