Huawei put the foot on the pedal, in its race to beat Apple at every corner, with the launch of its new Matebook 13.
Huawei Matebook 13-inch: Specs
It comes with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display carrying support for 2160 x1440 pixels and offers an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 88 percent. The left and right bezels of the laptop measures only 4.4mm. It’s aspect ratio support continues to be 3:2, 100 percent sRGB color gamut and 300nits brightness. The laptop’s so thin that at it’s thickest, it only measures 14.9 mm. It weighs in at a featherlight 1.28 kg. The new Matebook also comes in at 6 percent smaller and lighter than its predecessor: the MateBook X Pro.
Generic specs aside, the laptop’s USP is NFC connectivity. The NFC recognition area is placed on the right-hand side palm rest. Users with NFC-enabled smartphones will be able to transfer files at up to 30MB per second. It also features a fingerprint scanner embedded under its power button (just like the Matebook X Pro). It’s great to see smartphone tech spill over onto laptops.
You can get Huawei’s 13-inch Matebook in two variants, both with Intel’s latest 8th gen processors. Choose between the i5-826U with UHD620 graphics and i5-8560U with NVIDIA’s MX150 graphics. Both will feature 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage and 42W battery. Heavy users will appreciate its Shark Fin Fan 2.0 technology that comes with dual-fan and dual heat pipe cooling module working at 8,000 RPM. The left side of the device has a single USB-C port with another USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack on the right side.
