Today at this year’s Gitex Technology Week, Blackberry launched its latest device, the Blackberry Motion.
Blackberry Motion: Specs
BlackBerry Motion is the first smartphone from TCL to offer IP67 water and dust resistance, a new anti-scratch display technology and the largest battery ever in a BlackBerry.
In addition to the IP67 water and dust resistant rating and the new 5.5-inch Full-HD Anti-Scratch Display, the BlackBerry Motion features a sleek hardened aluminium frame and soft-grip textured back to provide greater durability and protection for everyday use.
It also comes with the largest battery ever in a BlackBerry smartphone (4,000mAh), which purportedly offers more than 32 hours of mixed use. When a charge is required, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 enables up to a 50 per cent charge in roughly 40 minutes using a USB Type-C charger. Powered by Android 7.1 Nougat, this BlackBerry smartphone gives customers access to the entire Google Play store and will receive monthly Android security updates and will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo too.
The device will also be the company’s first dual sim device.
Blackberry Motion: Security and Privacy
Like the BlackBerry KEYone, the Motion is designed with security built in right from the start. This includes a hardened operating system and BlackBerry Limited’s proprietary technique for establishing a hardware root of trust and adding security keys to the processor.
The BlackBerry Motion also comes with all the signature BlackBerry experiences that bring an unmatched level of efficiency to everything a customer does on the phone like BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Calendar, DTEK by BlackBerry and BlackBerry Boost charging.
New to this latest BlackBerry Smartphone is a personal Locker. With Locker, customers can store documents and photos to an internal storage area that requires the device owner’s PIN code or fingerprint to access. Locker Mode allows customers to capture images and directly save those photos to the internal storage area, so they are not automatically saved to a cloud.
Blackberry Motion: Convenience Key
Customers can also experience an improved customisable Convenience Key that brings even greater functionality and context to the quick-access physical key – unique to BlackBerry smartphones. This feature now includes four personalised profiles for Home, Car, Office and User, allowing for three different shortcut options that can be triggered by a home WiFi network, in-car Bluetooth, meetings that are synced to BlackBerry Hub or apps that are most commonly used. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device, which a doubles as a physical home button for added ease of use.
Blackberry Motion: Pricing and Availability
The BlackBerry Motion will be available in the second half of October for a price of Dh1,699 in the UAE and SAR1,699 in Saudi Arabia.
The product will distributed by Axiom Telecom in the Middle East, and also available from Etisalat. You can pre-order the new BlackBerry Motion starting today from leading retailers in the UAE and KSA.
