Set your phasers for stun because Ubisoft announced a Star Trek VR game during its E3 2016 press conference. Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a brand-new title that will be making its way to Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR as early as autumn 2016! Ubisoft put together a band of Star Trek alums such as LeVar Burton from The Next Generation, Jeri Ryan from Voyager and Star Trek Beyond’s Bones Karl Urban who went in-game to show us what it’s all about. Judging from the video, they absolutely loved it and it’s worth noting these people have spent a great deal of time on bridges.
As the name suggests, you get to be part of the bridge crew on a Star Trek vessel with up to three other players. Everyone fills up a different bridge role like captain, engineer and helmsman. It’s not limited to multiplayer – you can even play on your own with bots filling up the other roles, except for the Captain obviously. Unfortunately, it’s more of a simulation-style game rather than a story-driven world with missions. Either way it’s an incredibly exciting prospect for Star Trek fans who’ll have one of the VR headsets at the launch of this game.
