Prolific video game designer, screenwriter, director and producer Hideo Kojima unveils his first game since departing Konami and under his own independent developer’s banner, Kojima Productions, called Death Stranding. The game stars Norman Reedus in wonderful motion capture. The almost 3-minute trailer is visually stunning and equally perplexing as it gives almost nothing in terms of what the story could be and what kind of game this will be but it was consistently captivating. See for yourselves.
Kojima made a surprise appearance at Sony’s E3 press conference to unveil his latest creation since his work on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Fans of Kojima will remember Reedus and Kojima working ardently on a Silent Hill project with Guillermo del Toro which got cancelled for reasons that weren’t clearly stated. Sensing the tone from Death Stranding, it’s a fair guess that the pair salvaged some of their work from Silent Hill to incorporate here. There was literally nothing more said apart from the trailer being shown so we’ll be waiting with bated breath on a lot more details from Kojima Productions in the near future.
