A new Wolfenstein game was finally announced at Bethesda’s E3 conference. The latest installment of everyone’s favourite gun-toting, hatchet-wielding, Nazi-killing franchise is back with B.J. Blazkowicz in the lead again.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is set in 1961 in America and has BJ leading the Resistance against the Nazi occupation in his country. For those just tuning into the franchise, B.J. or Terror-Billy as the Nazis lovingly called him, barely survived the last game after his encounter with General Deathshead in Wolfenstein: The New Order. Here he starts injured, but is soon fully restored and obviously stronger than ever.
When it comes to weapons at his disposal, BJ has a buffet to choose from. He can mow down his enemies using an insane arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including the Laserkraftwerk (Nazi Goon Disintegrating Gun) or the Dieselkraftwerk (Gas-powered Grenade Launcher for Multi-kills). If these don’t work, his old trusty hatchet is always available. Nothing offers the same sort of satisfaction like having to yank your bloody, brain-matter covered axe out of Nazi craniums.
The main rule to killing Nazis in Wolfenstein II is versatility. Thankfully, BJ has this in spades. He can not only dual wield any type of weapon, from the tiniest pistol to the loudest sub machine gun, he can upgrade them as well to make them even more terrifying to his prey – the Nazis.
In the end, the goal is simple. Rally the resistance and end the Nazi’s tyrannical reign in America. Stomp, chop, shoot and hack your way through them and make your nation proud.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus releases on October 27th this year across PC, XBox One and Playstation 4 devices.
